Kangaroo (2) - Bahamas (Vinyl, LP, Album)

Please try again later. Verified Purchase. Just got the LP version. I might order another, in case this one wears out. I have a very high quality stereo system that resolves every detail in the music. I'm always nervous buying LPs because my system exposes poor recording quality, which kills enjoyment of the music.

For example Gregory Porter albums have compressed sound quality and mediocre stereo imaging, which is a shame given how amazing his music is. There's never a guarantee that a modern gram "audiophile quality" LP actually has audiophile sound.

Not so with Earthtones. Great sound quality, and great music. Very much audiophile quality. The mixing of different singers and instruments is solid, and it's easy to just close your eyes and get lost in the sonic soundscape. The only fault is that the stereo imaging is just slightly fuzzy, but maybe I can fix that by upgrading to a better cartridge.

This isn't going to shoot up some of your typical radio charts, but many quality artist have to conform and lose their essence or make it on cult followings or somewhere in between. I remember stumbling on some Bahamas back in they day via YouTube and like a few of their jams. This album is easy to play from start to finish.

I only skip 2 songs on it. It's creative, it's catchy, they have quality musicians, good lyrics, and it gets my mind and soul into a great place. Even my little 2 year old wanted me to replay a song the other day in my car.

It's also something my parents can listen to, but that can of range that transcends age or any other category you want to put humans in, speaks to the quality of this album like any good music. Bahamas has done it again! Another album where he exceeds expectations, changes styles, and totally succeeds at being a little bit different than everybody else. The standout tracks for me on this album are no wrong, no expectations, bad boys need love too, and so free.

If I had to be fair, I think Bahamas is Afie and barchords are still better albums on a whole, but this is just about right up there. One person found this helpful.

I love the bahamas music. Just saw them live in concert and they are even better live! We tried it on the old record player we had and it seemed warped. Bahamas has done it again! When we put it on the new record player I will update this review. But gave the CD to a friend as a birthday present. I find myself listening to songs off the previous albums more than any off this one, besides maybe three of them. Still enjoyable though. See all reviews from the United States. This CD is available in the UK however I noticed that this overseas retailer was selling it cheaper even allowing for postage etc. I decided to place the order and it arrived so fast that I was rather surprised. It gives the recording the quality of making the performances appear like they are in the room, live, with you.

It's truly impressive how Bahamas achieve this effect. Bahamas voice and guitar playing are very 'individual', modern and refreshing. The songs are catchy too. I would like to mention that the female backing vocals add so much to the material as they are almost 'quirky' in vocal style and give each song a lovely original 'feel'.

Personally I like every track on the CD. It will definitely get plenty of 'plays' in my house!! Absolutely lovely. Thank you for your feedback. Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again. Lovely production with super backing vocals and his own voice planted firmly front and centre. You can tell that the artist has grown musically and incorporates a lot more into his music in terms of the sound. Lyrically the songs can be very engaging. I can interpret a lot of the songs to have meaning or be applicable to my own life.

Like all of Bahamas music there is a lot of guitar. I bought this album because I buy everything the man puts out. But the singles, per usual, grabbed my attention before the album was released and really goaded me into getting the MP3 version of the album. I was not surprised, as I have come to expect this, to find that I enjoy a lot of other songs more than the singles that initially grabbed my attention.

If you like Bahamas, buy this album. If you've never heard of the guy, try Pink Strat as well. Maybe if I listen to this more, it will grow on me.

But, then again, I immediately loved the aforementioned albums. This, to me, is not Bahamas, maybe it's just Alfie? Changed from 3 stars to 5. How wrong could I have been? Don't know what was going on with me when I first wrote the above review. Let me tell you, this has become my all-time favorite Bahamas CD. One person found this helpful. I first heard Bahamas on a TV advertisement, where I man falls off a building to the tune of "I have all the time in the world. I love these albums.

As they say, "the man is an island. This album is such a classic and Such a great record! This album is such a classic and I love having it on vinyl. The whole album flows smoothly and there isn't a single track that I don't enjoy.

I was not immediately a fan of all songs on this album even though I've loved Banahas' first two albums, but after a couple run throughs I was hooked. Bahamas keep turning out the hits and we were able to catch a live show of theirs in Chicago shortly after this release If you like their last two albums, you're sure to love this one as well.

A very strange sounding band in a good way. I think I could Pigeon hole this in the genre of "Canadian alternative, country, folk, western styled, singing". I don't know what to say about it,slightly over polished? I listen to it, but its not for everyone that's for sure. Pickwick 4. Disney 3. Duration see all Duration.
